And the Online Oscar Goes to...

Founded by Pitt law professor Bernard Hibbitts, JURIST has grown from a small Web site for law professors to an award-winning news and research service read by more than 100,000 people every week.

The world's only law school-based comprehensive legal news and research service, JURIST is powered by a mostly-volunteer team of some 45 part-time law student reporters, editors, and Web developers, led by Hibbitts. It has been cited in more than 700 law review articles, including those published in the Harvard Law Review, Yale Law Journal, and hundreds more. When JURIST celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2007, Council of Europe Secretary General Terry Davis began the celebration by announcing that “at the Council of Europe, we are regular users and great fans of JURIST...a highly respected source of information on legal developments around the world.” 

JURIST earns high marks from Internet users, receiving several prestigious awards and nominations for online content. From 2006 to 2009, the site won or was nominated for four “Webbies,” awards that Time Magazine called the “online Oscars.”
